Eldorado

Amidst magnificent expanses of protected land.

Eldorado, NM Real Estate

Private, affordable suburb near the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains

The incandescent pink of the desert sunrise and sunset each day bathes the mountain views of this diverse community of retirees and families, set amongst magnificent expanses of protected land. Just fifteen miles south of Santa Fe, Eldorado is a census-designated place built around swaths of open spaces and vast trails. It features sublime natural landscapes, quick access to major transportation routes, including I-25 and US 285, and a rural, suburban feeling.

Though habitation of the land spans back to ancient times—as with much of the residential area in Santa Fe—the community’s development didn’t truly begin until the 1970s and 1980s when AMREP began cultivating the area for residential living. Modern-day Eldorado, Santa Fe real estate is a framework of medium to small, affordable single-family homes built on relatively large lots towards the end of the 20th century. Pueblo and Territorial Revival home styles dominate the scene, and the community is one of the most eco-friendly, solar power-based places in the country.
