SAFE HOLIDAY EXPERIENCES IN SANTA FE

The holidays look a little bit different this year, but there is still plenty to do:

Canyon Rd. Farolito Going COVID-safe: Cruising, Not Strolling

The City will continue to the traditional Christmas Eve Farolito Walk this year in a more COVID-appropriate way that’s steeped in local flavor — a cruise up Canyon Rd. in the family car. Residents will be able to enjoy the traditions of farolitos lining the lane and lighting the way. There will be no pedestrian traffic allowed.
Vehicles will enter Canyon Rd. from Paseo de Peralta, cruise up the historic lane, and exit onto Canyon Rd./Camino Cabra. Side streets intersecting Canyon Rd. will be blocked.
The Canyon Road Association has been supportive of continuing this tradition and we are grateful for their participation and enthusiasm to keep our traditions alive in a COVID-safe way.
Residents should expect delays.

Christmas Eve Luminarias

In the spirit of Christmas past, Fire Chief Paul Babcock and Fire Inspector Geronimo Griego are granting Burn Permit Amnesty for Luminarias in Santa Fe on Christmas Eve (but not on Canyon Rd.) Normally, all open burning without a permit issued by the Santa Fe Fire Department is prohibited under the City’s Fire Code.
Luminarias will be permitted throughout the City of Santa Fe on Thursday, December 24, 2020, from dusk until dawn.
Reminder: COVID-safe guidelines remain in effect — no groups of more than five people should gather at a time, while maintaining distances of six feet between individuals.
